Flash Laundromats, a regional chain that is planning to open a new laundromat on West North Avenue in East Tosa, withdrew its application for a conditional use permit seeking late-night hours but still plans to open by this April.

City zoning allows for a laundromat at 7105 W. North Ave., formerly occupied by O'Gorman's West Towne Auto, within the hours of 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. A conditional use permit is required to operate outside of those hours. Flash Laundromats initially asked to open all night, similar to the hours at its other Wauwatosa location at 6110 Bluemound Road.

After East Tosa neighbors raised concerns about an overnight laundromat, the Common Council was poised at its Feb. 24 meeting to approve a conditional use permit for Flash Laundromats with a list of conditions that would have required it to close at midnight. Instead, the business withdrew its application, and no vote was taken.
