The City of Wauwatosa announced the following street and path closures Aug. 10 in response to the rainstorm overnight, which swelled the Menomonee River past flood stage and caused massive amounts of runoff too pool in other parts of the city.
- North Avenue at the Menomonee River
- Menomonee River Parkway at Charles Hart Parkway
- Swan Boulevard at the railroad tracks
- North 70 Street at the Menomonee River (Hart Park)
- North 72 Street at Hart Park
- Harwood Avenue at Dewey Avenue
- The Menomonee River pedestrian bridges
Avoid those intersections, streets and paths until further notice. Hart Park is also closed to any motorist or pedestrian access. "We are concerned about additional injuries. Avoid the area," the city said in its online alert.
Authorities warn all residents not to drive or walk through any standing water or remove or go around any barricades. Call 911 if you are involved in or witness any life-threatening emergencies.
For non-threatening issues, such as basement flooding, residents may call 211 to seek assistance.
