Mama Rosa is getting some company, and visitors to Firefly Grove Park soon will have another larger-than-life public art installation to inspect while enjoying the park on Wauwatosa’s west side.
The latest addition is called “Sacred Rhythm Mother,” currently being installed on the south side of the park near the sledding hill. “The centerpiece of the new sculpture collection will be a large human face of the Sacred Rhythm Mother ascending from the Earth with her arm ‘releasing’ animals into the park,” Discover Wauwatosa, the city’s tourism department, said in a news release about the new artwork.
The animals released include a green heron, a great blue heron, a mallard duck, a belted kingfisher, a mink, turtles and a muskrat, all the work of Walk the Willow and lead artist Justin Roberts, who specializes in large-scale sculptures made from willow branches.
