The Common Council committee tasked with recommending someone to fill the vacant District 6 seat is scheduled to interview six candidates before selecting one for possible appointment.
The committee, made up of five sitting council members, meets Aug. 25 to discuss its interview questions, and it will meet again at 6 p.m. Aug. 25 to conduct 20-minute interviews of each candidate at City Hall. Both meetings also will be livestreamed on Zoom.
At the conclusion of the second meeting, the committee is expected to vote on its recommendation, which then would be taken up for appointment by the full council, likely at its Sept. 29 meeting.

The Wauwatosa Common Council has 12 members, each elected from distinct geographic districts around the city. District 6, on the east side of Wauwatosa, includes most of the Pasadena Neighborhood and the west end of the Tosa East Towne neighborhood.
The District 6 seat has been vacant since the end of April, when Sean Lowe resigned shortly after his election to the seat after revealing he had purchased a house in a different district. Since then, the council and city officials have deliberated over the best way to fill the vacancy, finally settling on appointing a temporary replacement and scheduling a special election in April 2027.
