Owner Natasha Meyer's June grand opening brought lines of customers, and East Tosa was the scene of an even bigger extravaganza last weekend when Meyer and 21 other locations hosted a large book crawl.
Proponents have tried once before to create an East Tosa BID. For it to succeed this time, they again will need to clear two hurdles: obtaining city approval and winning the backing of property owners.
Numerous businesses and organizations, both along the Menomonee River and in higher-ground neighborhoods, have temporarily closed for cleanup, repairs and renovations.
The renewed interest in a business improvement district comes more than a decade after a similar campaign failed to rally enough support from stakeholders.
