Wauwatosa has coffee. It has a lot of coffee.
It has Colectivo Coffee, Stone Creek Coffee, Anodyne Coffee, Fiddleheads Coffee and Vendetta Coffee. Tosa has Ally's Powerhouse Cafe and Miss Molly's Cafe. It recently lost Cafe Blue to closure but gained Idyll Coffee Roasters. Little Village Play Cafe serves up coffee alongside fun for the kids. To pair coffee with baked goods, Tosa has Rocket Baby Bakery and Cranky's. And it has multiple options for sipping Starbucks, from the chain's Tosa Village cafe to the Target on 124th Street.
What Tosa doesn't have yet is a Dunkin'. That soon may change.

The chain — originally known for its donuts but now all in with coffee — is planning its first location in Wauwatosa, in a vacant retail building with a drive-thru at 151 N. Mayfair Road near the I-94 on-ramp.
The former occupant? A Starbucks, which closed last fall. That suggests the addition of a Dunkin' will be a caffeination-neutral pickup for Tosa.

A public hearing was held June 23 before the Wauwatosa Common Council on the conditional use permit requested for the new Dunkin'. No one spoke for or against the plan, which advances to the Plan Commission on July 13 and likely will return to the council for final approval on July 28.
