Wauwatosa resident Carly Hurley is planning to start a new East Tosa business called Lived-In. The business will double as an event space and gift shop, with coffee service available during operating hours.

To make the business a reality, Hurley is seeking a conditional use permit from the city for the space at 6528 W. North Ave. A public hearing was held on April 28 before the Common Council, and the Planning Commission discussed the application on May 11. Approval by the full council could occur at its May 19 meeting.

“The City of Wauwatosa has been very responsive as I've worked my way through the process,” Hurley remarked in an email. “I've been in touch with folks from the city and county and everyone wants to see the business succeed.”

For Lived-In, Hurley’s plan is to run the business as a dynamic space offering a range of options to cater to customer needs. Hurley describes the business as a “community retail space,” where events such as baby and bridal showers, community group meetings and workshops also can be held. For personal events such as baby showers, the space can be rented out for a fee with a set time limit.
