The four Wauwatosa School Board candidates who publicly aligned themselves as the "2030 Slate" appear to have failed to rally enough support on Election Day to achieve their goal of taking majority control of the school district's seven-member governing board.
All four 2030 Slate candidates — Heather Birk, Todd Koehler, Chris Merker and Dan Stemper — were bested in the unofficial vote count by the three incumbents, Liz Heimerl-Rolland, Lynne Woerhle and Jason Wautier, and newcomer Melissa Lamers.
The April 7 election marked the transition to a system of results based on the top four vote-getters from the whole pool of candidates, rather than separate head-to-head contests for numbered board seats. Under the new format, Lamers took the most overall votes, even outperforming the three incumbents. Of the 2030 Slate candidates, Birk pulled the most support but still not enough to win a seat.
