Weekly digest: Tosa elections, a James Beard finalist and Tosa turkeys strike again

The spring election is April, and there are three contested Common Council elections and eight candidates for four seats on the Wauwatosa School Board.

It has been a Wauwatosa School Board race unlike any other, and on Monday, Tosa Forward News broke the story of ethics complaints against three of the candidates, who are accused of campaign finance violations.

The complaints against the campaigns of Chris Merker, Heather Birk and Dan Stemper mostly relate to the size of fund transfers between the campaign committees and how they reported their coordinated campaign expenses, such as signs and mailings.

CBS 58 broke the news of a new Tosa turkey fiasco. Residents on Church Street say their mail carrier has had trouble delivering their mail because of a "turkey takeover" of the block. Gobble up that story here.

Looking ahead, a planned adult day care on Capitol Drive has applied for a conditional use permit, which will be discussed at the April 13 meeting of the Plan Commission.
