Why lead this week's digest with a photo of state Rep. Francesca Hong? No, she didn't win the gubernatorial primary. Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley did, by fewer than 4,000 votes.
But in our primary election recap, we noted that Hong did win among Wauwatosa voters. Get that and four other election takeaways here.
We summarized Tuesday night's results here, including Amy Zimmerman's win over David Sanchez in the Democratic primary for the 13th Assembly District seat. Zimmerman will face Republican Mike Morgan in November. The district includes most of Wauwatosa, as well as all of Elm Grove and part of Brookfield.
"Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of knocking on your doors, listening to your concerns, learning about what matters to your families and earning your trust and support," Zimmerman said in a statement released after the election. "I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to be your Democratic nominee for the Wisconsin State Assembly."

In Tosa Village news...

For our paying members and supporters, Tosa Forward News posted an inside look at the new Vista Village apartments, the development on the site of the former St. Bernard Catholic Church and Wauwatosa Catholic School. Tenants began moving in this month.
(Some of you noticed how we briefly misidentified the former church as St. Sebastian in the tease text before it was corrected to St. Bernard. Apologies for that momentary brain fart, any any others you might notice on this site. As always, email editor@tosanews.com with any corrections or clarifications.)
In East Tosa, the new Business Improvement District (or BID, if you're into the whole brevity thing) has its first executive director, Amanda Williams. She said she grew up in East Tosa and sees in the business district "tremendous energy, character, and potential."
"I’m excited to work alongside our businesses, property owners, residents, city partners and community stakeholders to build on what already makes this district special," she said.

The City of Wauwatosa posted to social media that its Housing Rehabilitation Program has helped 40 Tosa property owners so far to repair and preserve their homes. More on that program can be found here.

No, that photo above is not one of the city-supported home repair projects. Draft & Vessel in Tosa Village posted the photo, plus video, of the demolition of the building next door, to make way for the business' planned boutique events space.
And WTMJ-TV had this report on the Tosa East football team returning to Hart Park after the August 2025 flood forced the team to relocate all of last fall's home games. (Full disclosure: Son of the Tosa Forward News editor happens to be among the players interviewed. #smileyfaceemoji)
