Hi, everyone. Editor David Paulsen here. This week starts a new chapter in the life of Tosa Forward News, and I hope you will be as excited about it as I am.

Introducing our first paid sponsor, and it’s a special one: Quinta CSA Farm. The owner, Mason, has roots in Tosa, and his East Troy-based team is now signing up Wauwatosa residents for the farm’s upcoming season of fresh produce deliveries right to your front doors.

Full info is here, and when you sign up tell them you saw it on Tosa Forward News.

So why is this an exciting moment? Well, I have a nutritious perk to offer all Tosa Forward News’ paid members, but more on that in a moment.

When I launched Tosa Forward News in August 2025, I kept two guiding principles top of mind. Most importantly, the website had to be all about Wauwatosa, everything in Tosa and nothing but Tosa. That’s the site’s hyperlocal ethos, at a time when corporate news media has mostly overlooked the story of communities like ours.

The second guiding principle was about the experience of the site’s readers. Put simply, I wanted you to enjoy reading it, not hate it.

So, I’ve resisted doing anything with the site’s design that would ruin the experience of getting the news and information. Yes, there is a requirement on most stories that you sign up as a subscriber and an encouragement to become a paid member, but most content remains free. And Tosa Forward News refuses to be one of those websites where advertisements clutter up each page or pop out at you demanding your attention.

But not all advertising is bad. When Mason reached out about promoting his CSA signups, it seemed like a great fit for the site’s first sponsor, so this week you will begin seeing some of the farm’s advertising embedded tastefully within stories. All readers are encouraged to click on the links to learn more and perhaps give the farm’s CSA deliveries a try.

“Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is the best way to buy local food directly from a farmer,” Mason says. “One of the best parts about Quinta’s CSA is front-door delivery. We deliver to your home using rigid harvest bins, allowing us to cut down on individual packaging. In 2025 we delivered over 2000 CSA boxes with no single-use plastic packaging! New members in Tosa receive a $25 discount when signing up.”

Those boxes are delivered to Tosa 16 times from June to October, and each is packed with six to eight items grown at the Quinta farm, such as tomatoes, peppers, basil, spinach, lettuce, carrots, beets and onions.

You don’t have to be a Tosa Forward News member to sign up for Quinta CSA Farm’s deliveries, but here’s where the member perk comes in. The farm also will have a vendor booth at the Tosa Farmers Market, and paid members of this site will receive a $5 credit to be used at the Quinta booth.

If you are already a paid member, thanks! Info on receiving your $5 credit will be landing in your inbox soon.

If you haven’t yet upgraded to become a $50 member or $100 supporter, do so between now and April 15 to qualify for the same Tosa Farmers Market credit.

And as always, let us know how we’re doing. If you have feedback or suggestions, send them to editor@tosanews.com. News tips are welcome too! As part of that first guiding principle, the site is really about giving you the news and info you want and need, so let us know the stories you’d like us to tell.
