Wauwatosa, in planning for the return of a July 4 fireworks display, considered a number of not-quite-viable sites before settling on a new location, as Tosa Forward News reported in March. This week, the city released details for how residents can join the celebration, now based at the Wisconsin Lutheran College sports complex.
The fireworks will be launched from the baseball field at the college's Krauss-Miller-Lutz Outdoor Athletic Complex, 1401 Swan Blvd., starting around 9:15 p.m. July 4.
"Spectators will have excellent sightlines from several designated viewing areas," the city said in a news release detailing the plans. It included a link to a map designating road closures, parking options and recommended viewing locations.
The parking options include the college's lot next to the football stadium. The stadium bleachers will open as a fireworks viewing area starting at 7 p.m. The soccer field to the north is the other recommended viewing area closest to the launch site. The facility will be accessible by car from the south, but Swan Boulevard will be closed to the north.
