The Wauwatosa School District notified families of the decision in an April 24 email, which did not provide details of the allegations but said the conduct “does not align with our district’s expectations for student care and supervision."

The Wauwatosa School District will end its contract with Right at School, the district’s before- and after-school child care provider, at the end of this school year over “multiple instances” of improper behavior by program staff toward students, including verified incidents at Roosevelt Elementary and Eisenhower Elementary schools.

The district informed elementary school families of the decision in an email April 24, saying that it had confirmed incidents of Right at School employees demonstrating “physically aggressive behavior” toward the students in their care. In response, the district has ordered the removal of all Right at School employees involved in those incidents, as well the area manager who was supervising the program in Wauwatosa.

Starting April 27, the district will assign substitute teachers to each of the Right at School locations at Wauwatosa’s 11 elementary schools to provide additional supervision and oversight of the program through the end of this school year.

The district’s email did not provide details of the allegations against Right at School employees but said the conduct “does not align with our district’s expectations for student care and supervision and requires a prompt and decisive response.” No district employees were involved in the alleged misconduct, the district said.

The district added that it had issued a formal notice of intent to end its contract with Right at School at the end of the school year and will begin working to identify new child care providers for summer programming and the 2026-27 school year.

“We understand that this situation is concerning. Please know that student safety remains our highest priority, and we are taking these actions to address the issue responsibly while maintaining continuity for families,” the district said. “We will continue to keep you informed as additional updates become available.”
