The Wauwatosa School District has chosen Blue Door Academy, a program backed by Boys & Girls Clubs of America, as its new after-school care provider after the contract of its current provider, Right at School, ends at the end of this school year.

The school district chose to end its partnership with Right at School effective June 11 after allegations of "physically aggressive behavior" by staff members toward students in two incidents in April at Roosevelt and Eisenhower elementary schools. That decision initiated a scramble by school administrators to find a replacement provider in time to meet families' needs for summer programming.

The School Board voted in favor of a letter of intent to partner with Blue Door Academy at an hour-long special meeting May 20, which included a presentation and Q&A with Tanisha Grimes, Blue Door Academy's head of program quality and operations.

That meeting can be viewed on the district's YouTube channel. This is the draft letter of intent. Additional information about Blue Door Academy is available at its website.
