Let's get right to the most important news of the week: The Brewers might be on the cusp of a World Series championship!

They definitely are playing in their first World Series in 44 years, starting tonight, and many local bars, restaurants and other public venues have scheduled watch parties or deals for fans. Here are some options in Tosa.

The game starts at 7 p.m. Where will you be?

We have another big update to share today. The second issue of Tosa Forward News: Community Edition is in!

Dozens of people have already signed up to receive this limited-run print edition at their homes. It's all good news about Wauwatosa packaged in a monthly newspaper. If you would like to receive your own copy, here are four ways to get it.

Developers complete conversion of former Sonesta hotel into 146 apartments
The project, led by Samapa Development, is backed by a $1.85 million redevelopment incentive from the City of Wauwatosa through tax increment financing, or TIF.

We learned this week that a redevelopment project is complete at the former Sonesta hotel at Mayfair and Watertown Plank roads. It has been converted into 146 units now known as Waterfair Apartments, and the new owner is accepting applications.

The Wauwatosa Independence Day Parade will take place in 2027, but not on Independence Day and not following the traditional North Avenue route. Find out the latest plans in this story.

Is your curb painted yellow? The City of Wauwatosa has a program for painting the curbs next to driveways yellow to make clear the four-foot no-parking zone on either side. Adding that paint has cost homeowners $120, but the cost will be reduced to $60 under a proposal pending approval by the Common Council.

That proposal was discussed in connection with the draft 2027 city budget, which was recommended by the Financial Affairs Committee this week and heads to a public hearing on Nov. 10. In one of the committee's changes, a proposed $5 fee hike for vehicle registrations was eliminated.

The Financial Affairs Committee also rejected a proposed amendment that would have included more modest 2% cost-of-living pay increases for nonunion city staff. The original proposal of 4% pay increases now advances to the full council.

Early voting started Tuesday at City Hall, and by the end of the day, 832 Tosans had already cast their ballots in the general election. Early voting, also known as in-person absentee voting, continues through Oct. 30. Then Election Day is Nov. 3.
